Course description:
Students will spend four weeks in Sorrento, Italy, one of the most vibrant sites in the country, on the world-famous Amalfi Coast, near Naples, Pompei, and the island of Capri. Students will live with host families, attend Italian classes at Sorrento Lingue (a local institution connected with the most famous University in Italy), and learn about the rich history of Southern Italian theater. In addition, students will take field trips to the most famous cities in the Campania region and spend a few nights per week experiencing cultural events in the city.
Learning Outcomes:By the end of this four-week course, students will have gained: 1) enhanced Italian language skills, based on their study in the classroom, immersion in the local culture, and experience with their host families; 2) a complex understanding of the vibrant theater that characterizes the region; and 3) a greater appreciation for the arts as a living expression of a specific culture.
Credits: 1 Upper Division + the opportunity of challenge any level of Italian Language

good academic standing
Cost:
$3,500 - Includes:
- arrival and departure airport transfers
- orientation tour of Sorrento
- accommodation for students with local family, in double room + breakfast and dinner
- Italian courses 3 hrs per day, Monday to Thursday + seminar with Prof. De Angelis, 2 hrs per day, Monday to Thursday
- Friday excursions to Naples, Pompei, Amalfi Coast and Capri
- cultural events
