Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The city and province of Syracuse boasts a wealth of archaeological and architectural remains, ranging from Classical to Baroque and from Gothic to Arabesque, reflecting the uniquely diverse and oftentimes overlapping historical narratives of Sicily. The historic center of Syracuse is located on the small island of Ortigia, separated by bridge from modern Syracuse and home to The Mediterranean Center for Arts and Science. ates:

Course of Study:
Sicilian film, literature and culture & Italian language
Students will take classes at the Mediterranean Center for Arts and Sciences, a dedicated Study Abroad Institute, located in a completely restored 17th century palazzo in the historical center of the ancient Sicilian city of Syracuse, steps away from the Mediterranean Sea. Students will earn 1 full upper division SMC credit and the chance to move up a level in Italian.
Excursions:
Students will have the opportunity to visit Catania, Taormina and Volcano Etna. Plus, some free weekends are designed into the program so students will be able to take advantage of exploring the incredible sites that Italy has to offer such as Rome, Florence, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, etc.
Housing:
Students will live in local comfortable apartments that include separate living and sleeping areas and come with a TV, bed linen, basic cooking utensils, equipped kitchens and bathrooms.
